Story behind the art:
Laguna Beach artist David Michael Vaughn was invited to see the restoration of three of the cottages at Crystal Cove during the summer of 2023. David has loved Crystal Cove and the historic significance of the park, cottages and beach for many years, and was truly excited to get a chance to see the newly remodeled cottages. This wonderful experience gave David the inspiration to make several new artworks in honor of this magical place.

"Forever Alive at Crystal Cove" shows the newly restored cottages and a south facing view of the Crystal Cove shoreline and community. It's an artist's eye view that shows the sandy beach, waves, and a beautiful day at the cove. David chose to use small gold crystals in his mixed media artwork to emphasize the magical allure of this "treasure" in California. The work features an acrylic painted hand embellished canvas Giclee mounted on a piece of live edge wood. The entire work is set in resin which encapsulates and showcases the mixed mediums of the artwork.

David creates every nuance of the art from cutting, sanding and preparing the wood, painting the main art, and then pouring the final coat of resin. The result is a loving representation of this timeless scene created in David's signature artistic style.
