A fine art piece by "Multi-Sensory Fine Artist" David Michael Vaughn. Mixed media wall artwork. The work features a hand embellished collage of multiple acrylic paintings by the artist as the central "canvas". Mother Of Pearl inlay border framing the entire central canvas. 3-dimensional relief sculpture elements of women's torsos, resin, gold leaf gilding, and acrylic painting. A final coat of resin encapsulates the multiple mixed mediums of art combined into this master work. The artwork is completely handcrafted by the artist in every detail. The art is 36 x 36 inches. Story behind the art:
David Michael Vaughn created Doll Dreams to honor the allure and power of the feminine spirit. The piece was inspired, in part, when David saw the 2023 release of the "Barbie" feature film. He wanted to offer his contribution to the zeitgeist and cultural touchstone that the movie had become. David was moved by the doll monologues in the film which proclaimed the epiphanies experienced by characters in the film. David recognized that the proclamations of female empowerment transcended boundaries and were a powerful statement on the human condition, personal growth and dreams regardless of gender and other social constructs. He imagined the lead character as she dreamed of her goals and wants in life, and as she matured throughout her story's arc.

Doll Dreams shows us a female face staring out at us with piercing eyes through what could be a mirror or a frame of which she is moving beyond. The mandalas represent enlightenment and growth. We see her visions portrayed by various painted elements such as the butterfly fairy doll, Queen card, leopard, ballerina music box dancer, roses, palm trees swaying over Laguna Beach and sculpted female forms. The artwork was inspired by the film, but is the artist's own interpretation of womanly power balanced with feminine allure. There is an accompanying poem which gives a window into the artist's sincere appreciation of the subject matter. Much more than skin deep, Doll Dreams is also a heartfelt tribute to the inner strength of several of the important women in the artist's life.
