Story behind the art:
"This artwork came to life in my mind's eye as I turned my gaze toward Catalina Island one afternoon last year. Suddenly, rays of sunlight began shining through the clouds as if they were raining over the ocean and all the life swimming below. I saw a goddess looking across the sea, perched high above Catalina where she has bestowed her beauty and wisdom and gifts for ages. I saw the gold from her rays reflecting on the water and the trees on the shore and I felt a calm, but also an excitement for her beauty and the mystery that she keeps behind her eyes." - David Michael Vaughn
